Community Appreciation Day: A Celebration of Black History and Culture in San Francisco

On Thursday, September 23rd Homeless Children’s Network took part in history by attending and speaking at the Community Appreciation day, celebrating Black history and culture in San Francisco. The event was sponsored by Wealth and Disparities in the Black Community and MegaBlack.

The event took place at City Hall and brought together the Black community in celebration of unity, Black excellence and joy, positive energy and appreciation for the culture. HCN staff members enjoyed the celebration with some great food and company.

HCN’s Executive Director, Dr. April Y. Silas gave a powerful and uplifting speech highlighting the importance of togetherness and community. Dr. Silas’s speech demonstrates how pivotal it is to have leadership during these unprecedented times. The Community Appreciation event celebrating Black history and culture was a historic step to enrich diverse voices in the community.
