About the Campaign
The Jabali Awareness & Education campaign engages Black and African American families, community organizations, and substance use disorder service providers in targeted prevention efforts to raise awareness, reduce substance use risks, and empower communities with the knowledge and tools to prevent substance use and create a network of informed advocates dedicated to supporting healthier futures.

Jabali Youth Advocacy
This youth-led committee empowers young voices to be heard and amplified regarding substance abuse and prevention. The program supports youth leaders aged 14-17, including those at risk and system-involved, in building advocacy skills, creating messaging platforms, and taking action to address substance use in San Francisco.

Funding for this program comes from the San Francisco Department of Public Health in conjunction with opioid settlement funds and California State Mental Health Services Act funds.
Additional investment from private philanthropy is needed to expand youth overdose prevention services, including increased capacity for treatment with focused expertise on the unique needs of the Black/African American community.
